Brilliant Asters! This commonly overlooked perennial

(genus Asteraceae)blue aster is a North American native and dwarf asterextremely hardy in our area. One of our favorite fall plants for the Northwest, they are rightly named because of their fabulous "star" shaped flowers. Asters are in their prime right now and are absolutely Aster2stunning. Colors range from deep purples, to scarlet, magenta, pinks, reds and whites. As bedding plants, asters steal the show in the fall and are a must have for the garden. Our selection is one of the best in the Northwest!

The Chrysanthemums, Just out of our greenhouses, are looking fantastic. Chrysanthemums were first cultivated in China as a Mum Historical Paintingflowering herb as far back as the 15th century BC, according to the National Chrysanthemum Society. Throughout history mums have been used for both culinary and medicinal purposes.  Derived from parts of the its flower and seed, you will find an ingredient called pyrethrums in many insecticides that are generally considered natural and safe.

Our fully budded mums are beginning to show early color, and are perfect for your flower garden beds or as a fallNewyorkmum
replacement of summer annuals in your containers. Traditional garden mums will give lasting color for months. Easy to grow and easy to maintain, these perennial flowers return year after year.

The Deal: Buy 3 plants and get one of similar or smaller size free! Offer good through Monday October 17th.

 MULCH, MULCH, MULCH

Gardening Experts throughout the Northwest recommend mulching your beds now, to protect plants from freezing temperatures, as well adding nutrients back into the soil.  If you are lucky enough to have a nice compost pile or bin, begin by spreading a minimum of 3 inches over the beds.  For more tender plants add
another inch or two, or mound up around the plant. We highly recommend our Kelloggs, Garden In Bloom, Organic Compost for those needing a conditioner that will protect the plants as well as help break down clay material.
