OUR 73RD ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION AND SALE
In 1938 Kikujiro Mano needed a greenhouse to grow produce and flowers for his booth at the Pike Place Market. He searched for a site with full sun, good air circulation and access to distribution sources. Earlington Estates in the West Hill area of unincorporated King County was fast becoming populated with small greenhouse operations growing everything from hot house tomatoes, cucumbers and cut flowers for downtown sellers.
Here, on a four acre site, he established Mano's Earlington Greenhouse. Those other early businesses have long since disappeared.
Tosh Mano worked alongside his father through the years and in 1950 he and his wife Tomi took over the business. They followed growing trends carefully over the years-Easter lilies, cut mums and poinsettias were the backbone of their trade. In the 70's bedding plants, fuchsias, geraniums as well as houseplants became popular. The growing diversified.
In 1996, with the Mano's wishing to retire, they turned over the reigns to Paul Farrington and Ron Minter. As the current caretakers of the nursery we have continued the quest to remain a traditional neighborhood greenhouse and nursery where our friends and neighbors can expect to find quality plants, honest service and a friendly smile.
Please join us this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, April 2 & 3, for our Annual Celebration and Anniversary Sale. Coffee, Tea, Refreshments & Hors d'oeuvres all weekend long! Rain or Shine, See you here!
