Enter to Win! GAR Sponsors Marbling Evaluation 101 Contest
G25 Steer Progeny - Value Per Head
The final group of Southern Carcass Improvement Project (SCIP) steers has been harvested. We have taken the data from the results of one Southern female, G25, and calculated the value difference in the Angus-sired over the Southern-sired steer progeny. Not often do we get such a unique window into sire value creation with the cow side being a fixed part of the equation. We encourage you to have fun with us. Watch the video and enter the Marbling Evaluation 101 Contest! The top three finishers in the contest will win a sale credit toward the purchase of a bull as well as Igenity genomic tests. The winners will be announced before the sale, Monday, Sept. 24. Go to www.gardinerangus.com and click on the Marbling Eval 101 video to watch and enter.

Join Us for the Educational Forum
Sunday Evening, September 23, 5:00 PM
Once again, we will host an educational forum, beginning at 5:00 PM, Sunday evening prior to the sale. Tom Brink, Five Rivers Cattle Feeding (pictured on the left), will present the final results and summary of the SCIP field study that began in 2009. The goal of the study was to determine the carcass improvement that can be made in one generation using high carcass value Angus bulls on typical Southern-origin beef cows most often found in Southern commercial herds. Comprehensive SCIP information can be found here.
Larry Corah, CAB (pictured on the right), will discuss the advantages of using the GeneMax test in commercial herds using registered Angus sires. GeneMax offers a simple and affordable test that can be used for profitable selection, marketing and management decisions in high-percentage Angus genetics sired by registered Angus bulls.
