Upcoming Sale Dates
Many Gardiner Angus Ranch customers share our common philosophy regarding beef production. Those customers are professional cow-calf producers allied with the GAR philosophy and committed to the discipline required to produce seedstock with added value throughout the food chain.

As the beef industry makes scientific progress through the development of molecular breeding values and marker assisted EPDs, Gardiner Angus Ranch and its Allied Producers will aggressively use the data to develop new and better programs, offer more services and continue producing superior Angus genetics.

SCIP: Phase II Update
SCIP Calves 2012

Fifty-six head of 2011-born research calves were placed on feed in early February at Triangle H Feedyard near Garden City, KS. The overall group consists of 34 Southern X Southern and 22 Angus X Southern calves. Three Angus sires and four Southern-breed sires are represented in this phase of the project. All calves are out of the same Southern-origin dams as the Phase I calves. Phase I of the Southern Carcass Improvement Project documented significant economic advantage of $92.72 per head over the Southern X Southern group.

"The DNA results suggest we will again see material differences in how these cattle grow and grade, and their final value and overall profitability will differ significantly as well, just as in Phase I," says Mark Gardiner. Gardiner went on to stress, "This project was designed to document the economic advantages of carcass genetics in Southern carcasses. Our goal is not to change the Southern female."
