PHOTOGRAPHY AND DIGITAL DOCUMENTARY
BY STEPHANIE C. ROBERTS

Greetings!

I hope this email finds you well, my friend. And I hope you are inspired by the people around you.

As most of you know, my Shutter Sister Jen Lemen and I won the Name Your Dream Assignment global photography competition Grand Prize and $50,000 from sponsors Lenovo and Microsoft. We began our assignment in Rwanda, the first stop on our Picture Hope journey around the world.

The experience moved me deeply, and I'm excited to continue to focus on documentary work such as this. You can follow Picture Hope, and please save the date: Sunday, October 4, 5:00-8:00pm to attend our Picture Hope Dinner Event at the amazing Villa Serena for a live taste of our experience in Rwanda.
I'll send an Evite with details soon.

Please explore some of my recent client and personal projects, and let me know how I can help you document and share your stories.

Warm regards,
Stephanie Roberts

Images and Stories of Hope in Rwanda

Embrace in Mutara, Rwanda Margaret sat quietly in the sitting room with gentle folded hands. Her eyes soft. A 45-year old mother of five girls. She spoke in her native Kinyarwanda as our friend Michel translated her story to us. Her story started with the loss of her father and three siblings to the genocide and traversed through her journey as a refugee from Uganda to Rwanda, the loss of her husband to AIDS, the shame thrust upon her life with HIV, and the vulnerability of depending on the goodwill of others to obtain food for her family. Despite all of this, Margaret shared that her hope is strong because of her faith. (Umutara village, Rwanda)

Follow the stories as they unfold at Picture Hope.

In support of Fair Content, Jen Lemen and Stephanie Roberts made a small monetary contribution to Margaret from the Picture Hope Name Your Dream Assignment fund to honor her audio story they intend to share. You can too.
Coming Soon: Southern Creatives Documentary, Episode 2
Richard OlsenLittlePurpleCow Productions' next episode of the Southern Creatives documentary series features painter Richard Olsen at work in his studio in Athens, Georgia. Ole's been working on the "The Wall" numbered series of paintings for many years. It was initially inspired by a Polaroid image of a canvas stretcher shot in his studio by peer art professor and friend Art Rosenbaum. Ole taped the image to the wall for inspiration - something to paint - and a powerful body of work began to emerge.
