Greetings!
The holidays have come and gone and the new year is just around the corner. How are you holding up? After a super busy year, Andy and I spent some quiet time in Sonoma last weekend. We've both been feeling the hibernation-inducing pull of the shorter days and colder weather, so it's been cocoon time: lots of movies, reading, soups, tea, and some walks in the brisk, chilly air. And a few indoor rock climbing sessions, which has been one way we're trying to get our fun in without being subjected to the wintery weather. It's also been a good time to marinate and hatch new ideas. I had fun writing this month's article: Hatching a Happy 2010: 7 Tips For Making New Year Resolutions Stick. The new year has a way of making us resolve to do things. Special things. Things that usually don't end up happening. For three consecutive years, I resolved to learn how to rip out a perfect ear-piercing whistle. Guess what? The best I got was a wimpy phlrrrsssfffftt. In the article, I suggest ways to approach new year resolutions with less pressure, suggesting that 'happy' doesn't have to be hard. Speaking of new year resolutions: you have one more day to join me in the Delicious Cleanse at a reduced price. After midnight on Dec. 31st, it goes up to full price. This is the real deal, folks. Come and get it. We start Jan. 11 and there's a very cool group forming. I have a few spots left - make sure you take your inspired action today! I hope you also RSVP and join me on the free call I'm hosting Wednesday, Jan. 6th - The 10 Food Myths & Mistakes That Are Sabotaging Your Weight, Energy and Mood - and What to Do About Them in the New Year. This month's recipe is great if you're in a post-holy daze, as it's grounding and comforting, healthy, and easy to make (only 3 ingredients!). It's a personal favorite of mine: Roasted Pumpkin Dessert.
I hope you enjoy your Byte. If you change your mind, you may unsubscribe at any time by scrolling to the very bottom of this page and clicking on the unsubscribe link. Wishing you deliciously healthy, Happy New Year!

Roasted Pumpkin Dessert
. This is a healthier variation of a favorite seasonal dessert from Turkey. Easy to make, with a beautiful presentation, it can replace traditional pumpkin pie as a more nutritious, lower glycemic dessert with heart-healthy fats from nuts. It can also take the place of yams or sweet potatoes with marshmallows as a side dish. No refined anything here!
And only 3 ingredients!

Yummy Yoga Retreat in Sonoma, CA: Jan 15 - 17, 2010
My inspiring yoga teacher, Deb, has a retreat coming up in January if you want to take a few days to yourself in the soul-soothing Sonoma area here in the San Francisco Bay Area. I've been to one of her retreats - they're divine! And I finally found my ideal yoga teacher in Deb after almost 23 years of searching for one (yes, since I was 12).
Click here for more details about the retreat.
If you can't be at Deb's retreat, you may want to try her DVD and make believe you're on a retreat while doing your downward dogs at home. Order by clicking here.
Note: I have no monetary relationship with any of the people, practitioners, places, or programs I recommend unless I specifically note otherwise. I just want to share these amazing resources with you!
