Geocoinfest 2010

Just last month we were at Geocoinfest 2010 in Bloomington MN.
What a great time we had! We'd like to thank the hosts of the all the events we attended in the Twin Cities, and especially the committee and crew of GCF 2010.
We would also like to thank everyone that visited our booth. It was great to see so many of our friends, and make new ones too.
We hope to see you on the trail someday!

Books For Fall
With the daylight hours getting shorter and the weather getting brisk in the Northern Hemisphere it's a great time to brush up on some Cacher's required reading...We have a few suggestions! The Joy of GeocachingThe Joy of Geocaching gives readers everything they need to take off on their own exciting geocaching adventure, with plain-English instructions on selecting the right GPS equipment, locating and hiding geocaches, and finding other geocachers to play with. The Joy of Geocaching profiles some of the world's most experienced geocachers and their secrets of advanced geocaching, like extreme geocaching (tackling the toughest hiking, climbing and rafting challenges to find a cache) and power geocaching (finding the most caches possible in a 24-hour period). There are even useful tips for dealing with "Muggles" (à la Harry Potter, that's what geocachers call nongeocachers), who occasionally think mysterious strangers planting and unearthing geocaches must be terrorists! Authored by the editors and staff of Geocaching.com, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Geocaching, Second Edition is an updated, comprehensive and easy-to-understand book for getting started and having fun with geocaching. You may not know it yet, but hidden within a few miles of where you are, there are geocaches waiting to be found!

| | Jenny | What We Did This Summer
We are releasing blog stories of our Summer adventures, staring with Geowoodstock XIII. We'd also like to hear your adventures! The cachers with a few of our favorite stories will receive some "treasure" from the Cache Cave... Just leave a comment on the blog about your adventures, and we'll pick some of our favorites!
Thousands of cachers from far and wide came together in harmony this year for the eighth annual GeoWoodstock. This year's event was held in Carnation WA, at the Remlinger's Farm. The beautiful property was the backdrop for over five thousand participants and dozens of vendors.
As a Gold Sponsor we were excited to see so many cachers make the trek to our neck of the woods, and meet some international cachers too. We had a great time the night before at the Luau BBQ meeting everyone. Read More... Watch for more stories on our blog about the great Midwest Tour (Midwest GeoBash, West Bend Cache Bash and Geocoinfest 2010) coming soon! Yes, that's 5 Mega Events that we sponsored, vended at and attended this summer!

Fall Cleanup and Maintenance Time!
Now that the busy summer caching season is winding down, this is the perfect time to revisit your caches and do a little fall cleanup and maintenance. Do your caches (or others' that you are finding) need a new log? Do they need new velcro, glue or even tape to cover a little hole? We know that sometimes you just have to replace the whole cache!
Our very own Dr. B's Cache Repair Kits are an indispensable addition to your cache bag. The Geocacher's Creed states "Make minor repairs if you can, it will save the owner a trip". We have 3 versions depending on your caching environment, Woodland, Arid/Desert and Urban. We also have Refill Kits that you can purchase separately. All Rite in the Rain paper, camo tape, Bison and the bag are specially colored (greens, tans or greys) in our Woodland, Arid/Desert or Urban Cache Repair Kits.
Kit is very 'stuffable' and compact: measuring only about 6" x 7", and weighing in well under a pound. |
