Recycle Electronics Saturday April 14th

 

RecycleThis Saturday, April 14th, the Township will sponsor an Electronic Recycling event in conjunction with Marple Township. To be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Old Marple School, Malin Road & West Chester Pike, Broomall, this event will allow residents to dispose of all types of electronics, including computers, radios, CD players, and much more.

Police Vehicles Have a New Look

 

The Haverford Township Police Department has re-designed its marked police vehicles. According to Chief Carmen Pettine, the primary reason for the change was for visibility. The traditional blue and white color scheme increases the visibility of the police vehciles in both high and low lighting, and will be more identifiable to the public. One of new vehicles is shown below.

Green Home Tour

 

Haverford Reserve Recreation FacilityThe Haverford Township Environmental Advisory Committee is hosting a Green Home Tour on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22, 2012 starting at 1 p.m. Among the day's highlights is a "preview" tour of the new Community Recreation & Environmental Center at the Haverford Reserve.

Community Service Day at the Grange

 

The Friends of the Grange is sponsoring a Community Service Day on Saturday, April 21, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the last day of National Volunteer Week, at the Historic Grange Estate. The members of FOG are looking for Boy and Girl Scouts, any and all service-oriented organizations (such as Rotary, Lions and Optimists), church groups and individuals from the community at-large to help create a "Remembrance Garden Amphitheater," or work on one of the other projects needed on the Estate.

 

If you or your organization want an opportunity to give back, even for an hour or two, April 21st is the day to do it. For more information, call the Grange office at (610) 446-4958 or send an e-mail to grangeest@verizon.net.

 

Haverford Education Fund Twilight Run

 

The Haverford Education Foundation is sponsoring the Twilight Run on Saturday, April 28, 2012; registration begins at 4 p.m. All proceeds support innovative education grants in the Haverford Township schools. The 5K race and walk begin at Haverford High School at 5 p.m. A one mile elementary challenge race will also be held for elementary-school-aged children. Race bags can be picked up on race day at the Beneficial Bank, 1200 West Township Line Road  in Havertown. In addition, all participants age 18 and under will be entered into a drawing for an iPad 2!
