Thanks for Supporting Toys for Tots

Thank you to everyone who donated to the Township's annual Toys for Tots program, which was again a success. The picture below shows the toys collected using the Township Police Emergency Services bus on the final sweep through the Township. Again, thanks!

Help Patrick Feed the Babies
There are so many charitable groups to support, but one I would like to highlight is "Help Patrick Feed the Babies," which began when 4th Ward resident Patrick Donovan, age 17, saw a program on childhood hunger and asked his mother "can we help?" Patrick, who is deaf and has autism, became the catalyst for a donation drive that has contributed over $15,000 of formula and infant food to local food banks in the past 3 years. Thank You Rob Trumbull for
Your Years of Dedication to the Township
Sadly, the December Commissioners meeting was the last for Commissioner Rob Trumbull, who has served the Township with distinction for 12 years. Rob, who represented the 3rd Ward, chose not to seek re-election and to instead focus on family and other endeavors. Every Commissioner spoke about how Rob's steady manner, reasoned voice, and quiet leadership helped make Haverford Township a better community. I will miss Rob's guidance and wish him the best. |
Trash & Recycling Schedules Available Soon
The 2012 Trash & Recycling calendars will be mailed soon to all residents. Residents of the 4th Ward will continue to have trash collected on Mondays, trash and recycling collected on Thursdays, and yard waste and Christmas tree pickups on specified Wednesdays. I will post the new schedules on my website and send a newsletter announcing them as soon as I receive them. |
Board Approves 2012 Budget
The Board of Commissioners has approved the 2012 Haverford Township budget. Totaling $36,866,723, the budget -- as proposed by the Township Manager -- includes a 5.2% tax increase, less than the 8.3% tax increase originally proposed. Last year, the budget had no tax increase, and in 2010, the tax increase was 4.5%. This was one of the most difficult budgets I have dealt with, but it reflected the smallest tax increase possible without reducing services to below acceptable levels.
