The Township has survived Hurricane Irene with relatively little damage. While there has been some flooding, and some homes have suffered significant damage from falling trees, the Township's multi-day advanced preparation (led by Township Manager Larry Gentile) was a big factor in preventing greater losses.

That said, I am well aware that some areas (such as Marilyn Park and others) remain without electrical service (including my home). I continue to work with the Township to pressure Peco to provide more than a useless update that merely says that the company is working to identify the cause of the outage and will resolve it as soon as possible.

If you are affected by the outage, please make certain that Peco knows of your situation. The company does not seem to want to talk to anyone, however, and while it claims to be responsive, I agree that it could do a much better job of communicating with customers; the communications to date have been atrocious. According to its website, as of 10 p.m. Sunday night, about 363,000 Peco customers remain without electric service.  The website also says, "Customers who experience an outage or issue with their service should call the company immediately at 1.800.841.4141.  The more customers who call to report an outage, the more effectively PECO can dispatch crews and restore service."

I will continue to monitor the situation until electrical service is restored to all residents.
