Thanksgiving
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.

Final Leaf Collection Next Week;
Recycling Only to be Picked Up on Wednesday

The final fall curbside leaf collection will occur next week (the week of November 29th) in the 4th Ward. Please have your leaves at the curb (not in the street) by Sunday evening. As in the past, you do not have to bag your leaves. Click here to view the 2010 fall leaf collection schedule.

In addition, because of the Thanksgiving holiday, trash will not be collected on Thursday, November 25, 2010.

Please note that Thursday's recycling will be picked up on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 in the 4th Ward and those sections of the Township in which trash is collected on Mondays and Thursdays.

Penndot Does Not Agree With Traffic Complaints

On November 4, 2010, Penndot sent a letter to the Township explaining why it does not agree that traffic improvements are needed at:

Earlington and Devon Roads
Brookline Boulevard
Lawrence Road
Lawrence and Ellis Roads

Click here to read the letter from Penndot.

I am very disappointed in Penndot's response, and have spoken with State Rep. Greg Vitali in an effort to address this reply.

For example, according to Penndot, "Based on the applicable engineering parameters evaluated, a reduction in the speed limit  [on Lawrence Road] is not justified. The 85 percentile speed on this roadway is  40 miles per hour." As a resident who lives near and walks along Lawrence Road all the time, I can attest that this conclusion is simply belied by reality. Penndot's similar responses about other areas in the Township are not persuasive.

I will continue to pressure Penndot to meet with Township officials and to try to implement meaningful measures to combat the traffic problems that plague us.
