Darby & Marple Roads Construction to Begin;
Roadway to Close From June 23 to September 1
Reconstruction of the intersection of Marple Road and Darby Road is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, the day after school closes, and to conclude by September 1, 2010, just before school re-opens. The intersection will be closed during the project.
Being done by contractors for the Haverford Reserve developers, in conjunction with PennDOT and the Township, the construction will reconfigure the roadway to a T-shaped intersection and will include the installation of a traffic signal. The contractor will be placing detour signs in advance of the road closure.

Hathaway Lane & Eagle Road Construction News
Replacement of the Hathaway Lane Bridge (near the Septa station on Haverford Road) is expected to conclude shortly, possibly within the next week or two.
In addition, the EPA will be installing a section of pipe across Eagle Road in front of the Bubble Gum Factory as a part of the installation of new line to the treatment plant. This project will result in lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The dates of the construction have not been announced. The crews must be off of the the roadway by 6 a.m. |
Touch-A-Truck for Freedom Playground
Freedom Playground will hold its 2nd Annual Touch-A-Truck Fundraiser on Saturday, June 12, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Rain or Shine) at the Bubble Gum Factory Parking Lot at Eagle and Lawrence Roads in Havertown.
Put your imagination in gear and go! Children will have the opportunity to explore trucks of all shapes and sizes, including fire engines, police cars, construction vehicles, a cement mixer and other fun cars and trucks. Imaginations will come to life as kids get up-close to the vehicles, sit in the driver's seats, honk horns and turn on sirens. Other family friendly entertainment will also be provided, including face painting, characters and moon bounces. Food will be available for purchase. Family admission is $20.00; single admission is $5.00. All proceeds benefit Freedom Playground. For more information, visit the website at www.freedomplay.org. |
American Cancer Society Relay for Life
The 2nd Annual Haverford Township "Relay for Life," benefitting the American Cancer Society, will begin on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 12 noon at the Haverford Reserve. The "Relay For Life" is a 24-hour fundraiser that gives communities a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
The Haverford Township event - really a block party with music, games, prizes and lots of fun - allows participants to walk or run "relay style." The event begins at noon Saturday, June 5th and ends at noon on Sundary, 6th. Relay participants will camp out overnight, and walkers will be on the field for 24 hours.
