4th Ward Constituent Meeting October 14, 2009
On Wednesday October 14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m., I will hold a 4th Ward Town Meeting at the Quatrani Building (behind the Township Building) at 2325 Darby Road in Havertown to provide you with an opportunity to meet with:
- Township Manager Lawrence Gentile
- Police Chief Carmen Pettine
- District Justice Lisa Lacianca
- Other Township Officials, and
- Me (Commissioner Siegel)
The purpose of the Town Meeting, the second this year, is to allow 4th Ward residents to air their questions and concerns, to receive answers to those questions, and to assure that there is an ongoing open dialogue between Township residents, Township officials, and your Commissioner.
If you cannot attend, please send me an email (to dansiegel@4haverford.com) and I will answer your question or forward your email to the appropriate Township official for a response. |
********************************************************************************** Haverford Township Day a Success
The rain stayed away, but the residents poured out, and yesterday's Haverford Township Day 2009 was a big success. Featuring a 5K Run/Walk, a festive Parade, crafts vendors, a flea market, food and other vendors, and virtually every community organization, HT Day is an excellent example of why Haverford Township is such a wonderful place to live and work.
I was pleased to meet many residents, and to discuss Township issues with them and other elected officials. Below are photos with (clockwise) Delaware County Council Vice Chairman Jack Whelan, former 4th Ward Commissioner Jan Marie Rushforth, and Board of Commissioners President Bill Wechsler.
Thanks to the organizers of Haverford Township Day, and to everyone who attended, for making the 15th Haverford Township Day a day to remember.

********************************************************************************** Next Billboard Hearing - October 15th
On Thursday, October 15th, the Haverford Township Zoning Hearing Board will hold another public hearing on the challenge by the Bartkowski Group (also known as "BIG") to the Township ordinance prohibiting construction of billboards, a ban that I wholeheartedly support.
The hearing will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Lynnewood Elementary School on Lawrence Road in Havertown.
I will continue to notify you about the billboard hearings and related matters. You will also receive updates in my email newsletters, on my website, and in my print newsletters. |
********************************************************************************** St. George's Church Polling Place Moved
The polling place at St. George's Church at Ardmore Avenue and Darby Road, where residents in Precinct 4-4 vote, has been moved inside to the Church Chapel.
As outlined in my Spring print newsletter, many residents and poll workers were unhappy with the current polling place and desired an indoor, air-conditioned and handicap accessible location. Signs will be posted directing voters to the new location. I want to thank the St. George's Rectory for its cooperation in making this change possible. |
********************************************************************************** Curbside Leaf Pickup Continues
Haverford Township residents will continue to enjoy curbside leaf pickup. There will be no changes in the manner in which leaves are collected this year.
As soon as I have additional information - including the 4th Ward leaf pickup schedule - I will send an email and post the information on my website. |

Fall 2009 Print Newsletter Mailed |
My Fall 2009 Newsletter was mailed to 4th Ward residents, except those who requested to receive the newsletter electronically. Click here to read the newsletter online. |
My Apologies!
I recently received a phone call from a resident of Marple Road, who mentioned that she had not received any Newsletters, calendars or other information from me. Needless to say, I was shocked.
Since I was elected last November, I have mailed 4 Newsletters to residents of our Ward. After receiving this message, I reviewed the Township's mailing list that is used to send materials to 4th Ward residents and discovered that at least 23 homes on Marple Road were not included. I immediately notified the Township and added the addresses to the mailing list for my Fall Newsletter. The Township is also reviewing its database to determine how this error occurred and to prevent it from happening again.
If you haven't received your print Newsletter, or prefer the online version (saving the Township postage and printing costs), please send me an email at dansiegel@4haverford.com, along with your email and home addresses, and I will have your records changed for upcoming mailings. |
