Single Stream Recycling Comes to Haverford Township in 2009
No more separating your recyclables. Starting in 2009, Haverford Township residents can put everything they recycle together - paper, cans, plastics (#1 to #7), and glass (clear, brown and green). Called "Single Stream Recycling," the program should help the Township save money on trash disposal costs, helping to keep your taxes lower. To read about Single Stream Recycling, click here to go to the 4th Ward Recycling information page. From there, you can read about the program, and download a recycling calendar in numerous formats.
If you have questions about the program, send Dan Siegel an email or give the Township a call at (610) 446-1000. |
Commissioners Approve 2009 Budget
Despite making every effort to avoid a tax increase, the Commissioners have approved the 2009 Township budget, which includes a tax increase of 4.36 percent, increases the annual sewer rental charge to $4.50 per 1,000 gallons of water consumed, and increases the annual trash fee to $125.00.
The budget is extremely lean; however, Delaware County Council has saddled the Township and the other municipalities in the County with fees that we have never paid before. Thus, when you read that the Delaware County Council approved a "No Tax Increase Budget," please be aware that County Council is not telling you the complete story.
To read more about the budget, click here to visit the 2009 Budget page at the 4th Ward website. A copy of the budget is also available at the Township website. |
