Do Protect
Your phone likely stores a treasure trove of personal & financial info; having it stolen is a huge waste of time, money, & stress. Password-protection is so easy there's no excuse for not doing it. Use a code you can type 1-handed & set it to lock after 20 mins (not 5) so it won't drive you nuts. Lifehacker has directions & more quick ideas. |

Don't Over-File
Still want to keep a few papers even in the so-called paperless age? That's ok, but resist making separate files for each vendor or institution. General files (banking, utilities, credit cards) are plenty easy to sort through in the unlikely event you'll need to. It must be easy to put papers INTO the system, or you'll end up with this. |

Get Modular
At my house we love this set of cheap, flexible, uniform bins from Ikea (similar sets sold elsewhere). We use them for our various recycling categories, & the variety of sizes means you can arrange them to fit any space. Great in the trunk, too! Our next step is to label them so guests aren't paralyzed by indecision. |

Give to Get a Great Halloween
Spending money on brand-new Halloween costumes is scary! Check out these easy costume ideas (the toddler section is priceless) from Goodwill, using items you already have or could pick up at a charity store. Support a good cause, save money, reuse resources, & impress your friends with your creativity, all in one fell swoop. |
