Tips and Tricks to Make Life Easier

It seems like such a nerdy thing to do, but I swear you get many times more value out of your belongings if you sit down & read the directions. I recently read about my washing machine & was floored by how many useful things it can do. Next I'll curl up with the gas stove manual. You also learn how not to ruin the thing you bought! |

Don't Fold
When I saw this idea for organizing an underwear drawer in Real Simple, I thought two things at once: 1)"I love the idea of cutting up shoe boxes to use as drawer dividers," & 2)"I hope people don't think they really need to fold their underwear." In my opinion, if you don't want to, don't do it! |

Get Outta Town
Anything that makes packing easier is worth it in my book. I've been using this little gadget for years & years: Eagle Creek's Pack-It Folder. You fold several days' worth of clothes (it even comes with a folding tool) & stack them in. Clothes are compressed so that they take up the smallest space possible, and they come out unwrinkled! |

Too often a valiant de-cluttering effort is ruined in the 11th hour because no one's around to schlep the donations away when you're done (if you're not working with me, that is!).
