Tips and Tricks to Make Life Easier

It's easier to have fun when you're organized.

Here are 4 quick monthly tips from me, Molly Boren
of Simplicity Works Home + Office Organizing Services.
I hope they make your life a little easier.

Remember: if it takes 2 minutes or less, do it now.
That is, read this now and then file or delete it.
How ironic if it were to become e-clutter!
DO

Do Take Shortcuts

My computer files are pretty darn organized, but I want access to a few docs & programs with just one click rather than navigating all those folders. Shortcuts are brilliant: magic portals to the original doc, so no danger of multiple copies & no need to move the original from its organized home. How-tos for PCMac.

DON'T

Don't Say No

Don't decline help. Many of us are so self-reliant that our automatic reply is, "oh, I'm OK." But we're also trying to do more than is humanly possible! The next "Can I help?" you hear, halt the auto-no, think of a specific, manageable task, & ask. Send a quick "thank you" email; they'll love knowing they made a difference.

GET

Get a Snazzy (File) Jacket

The humble-yet-powerful file jacket is a revelation: it's just a file folder with sides. It's great for corralling receipts & other small papers that fall out of open-sided folders, or for files you carry around with you. (MacGuyver one by taping together those open sides.) Expanding file jackets are available for bigger jobs.

GIVE

Give Accessible Health Care

Through reading, Literacy Chicago's adult clients "achieve greater self sufficiency." Think what more one can do with the ability to read! Succeed on the job, perform the tasks of everyday living, help your kids, and on and on. You can join in by volunteering as a tutor or a committee-member, or by donating.

Simplicity Works Home + Office Organizing Services helps busy people streamline with tips, tools, and hands-on projects that make everyday routines and spaces more efficient and less cluttered. Time, money, and energy are then free for the things that matter most.
