Tips and Tricks to Make Life Easier

It's easier to be lazy when you're organized.

Here are 4 quick monthly tips from me, Molly Boren
of Simplicity Works Home + Office Organizing Services.
I hope they make your life a little easier.

Remember: if it takes 2 minutes or less, do it now.
That is, read this now and then file or delete it.
How ironic if it were to become e-clutter!
DO

Do Re-package
If that box of whatever doesn't fit in its drawer, unbox it into a zip-top bag or other (clear and/or labeled) container that does fit. Don't let that bulky box dictate your storage choices! I have done this with rubber bands, crackers, and garbage bags in the past couple of weeks and I tell you, the sense of empowerment is exhilarating.
DON'T

Don't Do the Whole Thing
Don't dedicate a whole weekend to a project. Chipping-away can trump the one-fell-swoop method, especially if it gets you to start. Take 5 spare minutes to sort 1 closet shelf: give-aways to the donate bag, keepers grouped by type, "elsewheres" to homes in other rooms. Never leave your project strewn about, and continue when you get the next spare moment.
GET

Get Rja Label Holders
These little guys are so versatile you'll want dozens on hand to mark containers throughout the home and office. They fit over the edge of just about any box, and you can slip the paper label in easily. Elegantly simple! And they're only $2.99 for 10. No Ikea nearby? Ask a friend to pick some up; they're so lightweight it's easy.
GIVE

Give  a Kickstart

Find a creative project that rings your bell on Kickstarter, toss a few bucks its way, and become a Patron of the Arts. Kickstarter has raised $25 million+ for artists (who keep 100% ownership in their works) in 2 years by "crowd-funding," and only takes your dough if the project is fully funded. Get fun rewards from the artists, too!

Recertification

I've just hit the 3-year mark as a Certified Professional Organizer, which means it's time to recertify. I'm proud to report that in doing so I discovered I had about twice as many continuing education credits as were needed! There's always something more to learn...
