October 2010 | Tips and Tricks to Make Life Easier
It's easier to be lazy when you're organized. |
| Here are 4 quick monthly tips from me, Molly Boren
of Simplicity Works Home + Office Organizing Services.
I hope they make your life a little easier.
Remember: if it takes 2 minutes or less, do it now. That is, read this now and then file or delete it. How ironic if it were to become e-clutter! |

 |
DO |
| |
Do Move It Out
Make an "outgoing" box - or any container that can collect things that need to leave, so they hitch a ride with you next time you're on your way out. No more straining to remember, "Must gather library book! And shirt to return to Target! And..." Instead, chuck them into the box (or bag) and they're as good as gone. |
 |
DON'T
|
| |
Don't Start
Could you delay starting a new project until you've finished that old one? More projects vying for your attention = more stress. Don't buy the fabric to reuphol-ster the chair until you've painted the dresser. Maybe you'll even decide to recycle those unread trade journals in favor of the more promising new research project. |

GET
|
| |
Get Handy A perennial "where's-one-when-I-need-it" item is the humble scissors. A model of simplicity and usefulness, why not have one pair for every room or two? Please unearth your extras and distribute them to safe homes. Or put a few on your shopping list. What else do you hunt for? A screwdriver, sewing kit, pliers, pen? |

GIVE |
| |
Give More Clean Water Here's another amazing group - courtesy of a reader (thanks!) - providing life-giving clean water: "ClearWater Initiative promotes simple, innovative solutions for clean water in disasters." Projects are audited for accountability & focus on conflict-affected areas of northern Uganda, in partnership with local engineers. |
