Tips and Tricks to Make Life Easier

It's easier to be lazy when you're organized.

Here are 4 quick monthly tips from me, Molly Boren
of Simplicity Works Home + Office Organizing Services.
I hope they make your life a little easier.

Remember: if it takes 2 minutes or less, do it now.
That is, read this now and then file or delete it.
How ironic if it were to become e-clutter!
DO

Do Use Your Address Book to Capture Tips
Make entries in your address book about how to perform tricky tasks, like making your scanner (okay, my scanner) scan. When you finally figure it out, save your future self angst with a "Scanner" entry & note the steps you took. The more such entries you make, the more automatically you'll go there when stumped.
DON'T

Don't Buy that New Phone
Okay okay, if your old phone, computer, etc. is dead or dying, go ahead...but if not, consider hanging on to older technology: it will save you time. Remember that it takes time & energy to learn to use new gadgets, creating more of a distraction than a help. (Plus you'll save financial & environmental resources.)
GET

Get Great Duds / Great Price / Great Cause on Feb 25
Ladies in Chicago: Bottomless Closet provides professional clothes & accessories to women in need -- a step toward self-sufficiency. And on 2/25 & every month, they have amazing sales (including designers like Escada & Prada) to reduce stock & raise funds. My favorite bag was $10! I hear Bridge to Success works similarly.
GIVE

Give Mindful Medical Help
The non-profit Mindful Medicine Worldwide treats people in developing regions using integrative medicine -- i.e., diet and lifestyle choices, accupuncture, herbs, community resources -- and teaches it to them, too ("teach a man to fish...").    Talk about sustainable and direct aid. Help fund their mission, or volunteer.
