Tips and Tricks to Make Life Easier Celebrating dads, moms, grads, brides, grooms, etc.,
is more fun when you're organized. |
Hi there. Here are 4 quick, monthly tips provided by Molly Boren of Simplicity Works Home and Office Organizing Services. I hope it makes your life a little easier.
Remember: if it takes 1 minute or less, do it now! I.e., read this and then file or delete it - wouldn't want it to become e-clutter...

DO |
Do Lighten Your Wallet - in a Good Way
So fast! Empty your Costanza wallet into 3 piles: everyday use (e.g., i.d.), infrequent use (e.g., store credit cards - right??), elsewheres/shreddables (receipts, expired cards). Now take each to its destination; "infrequents" could bunk with your checkbooks. Extra credit: copy or scan the keepers, front and back, and store in a safe place.

DON'T
Don't Let the Trouble-Makers In Reduce barriers to desired behaviors and erect simple barriers to those to avoid. Trying to shun donuts? Don't bring donuts home - you'll dodge hours of inner struggle. Want to avoid paper clutter? Recycle or reduce it before it comes in the door. Your home or office is your exclusive club; be your own ruthless bouncer. |

GET
Get Free Stuff from the Library The library is seriously the best deal in town. Here in Chicago, as in most places, you go and get a card in about 2 minutes. Borrow books, sure, but also movies, cds, free museum passes, and downloadable audiobooks. Too lazy to search the stacks? Put an item on "hold" and they'll email you when it's ready to pick up. |
GIVE |
Give Towels to Adorable Puppies Make space in your closets + give a puppy a bed. You only need 2 or 3 towels per person, plus a few for guests. Donate like-new extras to Goodwill or the like, but older ones can go to animal shelters like PAWS and The Anti-Cruelty Society. Just stay strong while you're there and resist adopting a puppy unless you're sure! |
