Tips and Tricks to Make Life Easier

Happy Spring, Everyone!

Hi there. This is a quick monthly tip list provided by Molly Boren of Simplicity Works Home and Office Organizing Services. I hope it makes your life a little easier.

Remember: if it takes 2 minutes or less, do it now!
I.e., read this and then file or delete it -- wouldn't want
it to become e-clutter...
DO

Do Grab an Egg Timer
Yes an egg timer, or your phone or other timing device. Set it for 15 min when you're at your computer and drifting into a work (or Us Weekly) zone that might persuade you to lose track of time. When the buzzer buzzes, your awareness will return. You'll be able to make a conscious decision to stay in the zone or not.
DON'T

Don't Clip Coupons
They're tempting, but think about whether a) you actually use them, b) you actually use them on things your really need, and c) whether you're willing to take the time to learn how to use them effectively. If the answers are no, no, and no, put down the scissors. If you find one you know you'll use, tuck it into your wallet.
GET

Get a Junk-Mail-Ectomy
Sign up for the MailStopper junk mail reduction service. Sure you can do some of this for free, but for $20/year they take you off of any list you want, and monitor the lists monthly so you don't fall back on. Catalogues, credit card offers, charity appeals, you name it. Plus they plant 5 trees for you! Makes a great gift.
GIVE

Give Paperbacks
Got a pile of good soft-cover books looking for a home? Drop them off at Chicago Books to Women in Prison, any Sunday 2-5pm (4001 N. Ravenswood, #204C). They especially need dictionaries, self-help, and blank journals. If your books have already inspired you, here's a way to pass them on to the next inspiree.
