Tips and Tricks to Make Life Easier Organize a Little, Enjoy a Lot this Holiday |
|
Hello and happy holidays! This is a quick monthly tip list provided by Molly Boren of Simplicity Works Organizing Services. With easy ideas for things to do -- and things to STOP doing -- I hope it helps you save time, money, and energy for the most important things. Remember: if it takes 2 minutes or less, do it now. I.e., read this and then delete it or save in a folder. I wouldn't want it to become e-clutter...

Do Contain the Cords
Try this storage trick if electronics show up under the tree: pop each corded gadget or recharger into its own resealable sandwich bag. A drawer full of bags is easier to navigate than a thicket of cords. Label rechargers with the gadget's name; a Sharpie and masking tape will do. Cheap and easy organizing - my favorite. |

DON'T
|
|
 |
Don't Sweat It Please don't stress over choosing the perfect gift. If you're still searching, pick (or make!) the first one you find that passes the test: it will enhance the recipient's life -- not become clutter -- and show you were thinking especially of him or her.

Get Shelved
The annual 30%-off elfa sale at The Container Store is right around the corner: December 24 - Feb 6. And certain prettifying components are 50% off through 12/31. If you need it, pick up this great-quality, versatile shelving and drawers with free design services. As with any item, don't assume it will keep you organized magically! But when used strategically, elfa helps multiply your space. |

Give Back Bytes
If those new electronics do roll in this season, donate older computers to Computers for Schools. CFS refurbishes them for use by schools, non-profits, and families in need. Click here to donate or find sites outside of Chicago, or drop off at the City of Chicago's Electronics Recycling Center, which diverts usable computers to CFS. | |
