Bosco

Bosco came to NAHS as part of a transfer from Oklahoma. He was less than a year old and full of energy and enthusiasm which drew volunteers and staff to him. Bosco was adopted soon after being made available but was returned just four days later when the adopter was told by his landlord that Bosco was not welcome. He waited another month for the Poremba family who, with three boys, were perfect to handle Bosco's energy. They report he is very smart and is working with a trainer to learn how to be a well-behaved boy. They taught him to swim this summer and, at 86 pounds, Bosco still thinks he's a lap dog! Congratulations to Bosco and the Porembas on finding their perfect match!

In December 2009, a cat named Rudy was brought to the shelter from animal control after being found as a stray. Rudy had been adopted from NAHS in 2005 (his microchip identified him as coming from us) so we contacted his owner and he went home soon after. Unfortunately, in November 2011 his owner moved to a location that didn't allow pets so Rudy came back to the shelter. Because of his age and stress in the shelter, Rudy went to a foster home where he could be much more comfortable. His foster mom talked with our Friday afternoon greeter and one of our founders, Cleo Keller, about Rudy. In January 2012, Cleo made the adoption official and she says Rudy runs the home and is a wonderful companion. Best wishes for many years together, Rudy and Cleo!

Adopt a "Mini-Panther" is August Promotion
Molly
Molly-available for adoption
With many black and mostly black cats and kittens currently living in the shelter, NAHS has decided to focus attention on them by offering a reduced adoption fee! From August 1 through 14, adopt a "mini-panther" adult cat for just $5 or a kitten for just $75.

"Kitten season is booming. Our kitten room is full and so are our foster homes," said Michelle Lenz, animal care manager. "When someone adopts one or two kittens, that makes room for one or two more to return to the shelter from foster care or even from area animal control facilities."

Julius

Once the promotion is over, a new fee structure for cat and kitten adoptions will be in place with adult cat fees at $50, kitten fees at $125 and senior cats, 7 years and older, available for $25.

As always, all cats and kittens are current on vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLV, spayed or neutered and microchipped.

Stop by the shelter today to see our mini-panthers or visit our cats on the website here.
