Leap Ahead in English

Leap Ahead

In April pupils in the 'Leap Ahead in English' programme in Ashkelon put on a performance. Together with Revidim - Association for Change in Education - we provide teacher training and mentoring to elementary school English teachers in the periphery - both inside and outside the classroom. We also run an Afterschool programmes for the most challenged learners.

The project is currently running in six schools with 12 teachers and 600 pupils. We believe we can have a real impact by improving the teachers' English language proficiency and pedagogical skills and increasing the students' motivation and proficiency in English, as demonstrated by teacher feedback: "The benefit is that I have a personal mentor that can guide me and work on my weaknesses, and pupils have the chance to speak English and to be confident."
