This spring, a series of film events supported by BI ARTS creates opportunities for film professionals to meet and exchange ideas:
- UK filmmaker Sean McAllister held masterclasses and workshops at the Docaviv International Documentary Film Festival.
7-14 May, Tel Aviv Cinematheque
- Dick Strawbridge, presenter of the BBC's It's Not Easy Being Green participated in a panel discussion at Ecocinema, the Israeli environmental film festival. 19-23 May, Jerusalem Cinematheque
- Independent documentary producers from all over the world took part in the Co-Productions market aimed at fostering cooperation between filmmakers in Israel and other countries. Visiting UK producer Aaqil Ahmed, was presented with dozens of Israeli documentaries which are open for co-production. 26-28 May, Tel Aviv

Nine Israeli science communicators competed for the FameLab title at the final on 4 May. Shani Waidergoren, our 2009 winner, impressed the judges and audience alike with her fascinating insight into a neurological syndrome known as Prosopagnosia or the inability to recognize and remember faces. Shani is finishing her MA in neuropsychology and moving on to complete her PhD research. She will be joining the other national winners from Europe at this year's Cheltenham Science Festival in the UK in June.

Dubbed the 'finest consort of violas on the planet' by the UK press, Fretwork will be performing their special brand of Renaissance music in Jerusalem this month. Supported by BI ARTS, the group of six musicians will be joined by mezzo-soprano Clare Wilkinson in an intimate and captivating program that brings together the music of Bach and Purcell. The group will also be holding a masterclass for Israeli musicians at the Jerusalem Music Center. Read more. A new exhibition marking the bicentenary of Darwin's birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of On the Origin of Species, opened at Jerusalem's Science Museum. Designed by the British Council, the exhibition is part of our DARWIN NOW project celebrating the life and work of Charles Darwin and the impact his ideas about evolution continue to have on today's world. | |

| MUSRARAMIX Festival, is an interdisciplinary platform combining the arts, technology, society and philosophy. Support by BI ARTS, British musicians Andrew Liles, Dave Marks and Motti Cohen performed live and delivered workshops at this year's festival. Mandatory, our special programme of Mandate archive films was also featured at the festival. Directed by Ori Drumer and Ilan Green, Musrara music students and teachers performed a new soundtrack for a selection of silent archives filmed in Israel during the British Mandate period (courtesy of the Imperial War Museum and the Jerusalem Cinematheque). 25-27 May, Musrara school, Jerusalem |

The acclaimed Doric String Quartet returns to Israel. Now in its 11th season, the quartet regularly performs at major festivals and venues in the UK, Europe and Asia.
