Greetings!

Donna Ridgeway
September is the beginning of a new year for families with school aged children.  Our children are in college and graduate school, but to me, September still feels like a new beginning.   It's a time to re-group from summer and look forward to fall and winter activities.  It's also a great time to get organized!  Use the tips this month to get off to a great start this Fall.

Have a good September!

Organizers Corner

     Change is good....

You will often hear me talk about becoming and staying organized.  Organization is not a one shot deal.  We cannot organize one time and expect everything to just stay put!   However, when a good organization system is set up is ought to be easily maintained.
I implemented a new filing system in my office a while back.  I set up a tickler file system by month and days to help keep paper cleared from the top of my desk.  (My personal and business files are in drawers.)  Somehow, I kept finding papers on my desk that had no home.  Guess what?  That system is good for some folks but it didn't work for me.  I have changed all my files now and set up my desk top tickler files labeled with the categories I need.  Now I can easily drop items in the files and know I can find them when I need them!
The message here is that even when we organize, sometimes we need to change or tweak something we did.  That's ok!  Pay attention to what is and isn't working for you.  Move things around if needed.  Make new homes for items that don't have one, or that are in a place that isn't working out.  Maintain your space and maintain your peace and productivity.  It's worth the time investment to get it right for your needs.  I know!  Change is good!

Product Recommendation

This month my product recommendation is for the kitchen pantry.  It is a 3 Tiered Expandable Cabinet Shelf.  It elevates your canned goods (or other foods) at 3 levels so items are easy to see and reach.  Great product and they range in price from about $10.00 to $15.00.  Price varies by wood, plastic, or chrome.  They are available at Storables and The Container Store.

September Organizing Tip #2
Now that you are taking inventory of your desk supplies, consider using drawer organizers to really make things neat and easy to find.  You can find drawer organizers at any organizing store, office supply stores, and many drug stores.  Drawer organizers can make a huge difference.  For a great example, check out the photo gallery on my website!

September Organizing Tip #1

Inventory and Be Prepared

This is the time of year to inventory your desk supplies.  What do you have that you no longer need or use?  What supplies need to be replenished?   Don't keep anything that is not in working order.  A well stocked desk will prevent being caught short when you sit down to work or to pay a bill, or your student has a project due.
