Organizers Corner
Well, I just jumped into the deep end of the pool - with no life preserver - and honestly it feels great! I've been doing that a lot this year. Every new experience has been another pool and every risk I take is another leap into that deep blue water. Launching a business is like that! It's been fun, challenging, intriguing, frustrating, confidence boosting, character building and a million other things. (Thankfully I have the nicest family, friends, and clients who have encouraged me every step of the way!) Today's dive into the pool is the newsletter you are reading. I finally turned the corner on writing a newsletter when I realized that organization is involved in so many aspects of our lives. It's almost like physics - which is in everything. Now, I think about organizing a lot of course. I take classes on organizing and I talk organizing with my friends, clients and other Organizers. My AHA! moment was the day I realized it really does apply to everything we have and do. Think about it! Of course we want our rooms, cupboards, drawers, and closets to be organized. Heard the term "time management"? That's time organization. Ladies, how many times do we wish we had a more organized purse instead of constantly digging in the bottom for what we need? How about your car, briefcase, attic, in basket, calendar, recipe collection, hobby supplies, sports gear, photos, vacation information or your shoes? Organized? Here's the good news: changing one little thing can be of the greatest benefit. Now, I wouldn't tell anyone to attempt to organize everything they have all at once! That will only lead to more frustration. As with any change, its better to start slow and go at a steady pace until the change feels more natural. Don't try to eat the elephant - take one bite at a time. The other good news: what is organized to one person may be different for another!! So just because your mother in law thinks you are unorganized - you may not be at all! If you know what you have and where to find it - you are organized in your own way. Don't know what you have or can't find it? A little organizing may be in order. Is it a new thing for you? You can do it! Jump in the pool - it feels great! |

| Product Recommendation |
|
A great product to pick up is called "Extra Closet Rod", and that's exactly what it is. This item is available at Storables for about $10.00 Approximately 30 inches long; it is a rod that hooks to your existing rod and hangs below to create two tiers in one part of your closet. This item is largely marketed for college dorm closets, but I also recommend it for young children who cannot necessarily reach the regular rod. Help them organize their hanging clothes and put their favorite items where they can reach them!

| August Organizing Tip |
It's in the Bag!
Want to get a head start on an area that needs organizing? Grab a trash bag and take a 10 minute walk through the room or area. Toss everything you see that you no longer use and needs to be thrown out. (Do this in several rooms and see how much stuff you eliminate in just a few short "walk throughs"!)

| Coming in September |

With Fall just around the corner, it's a good time to address time organization and organizing students of all ages.
Stay tuned - September can bring a change of seasons and a change in how organized you feel!
