Quote of the Month
"Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition. It asks too little of yourself. Because it's only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential".

Decorating the "Traditional" Way
Last month we took a look at decorating with a "less is more attitude", the contemporary look that many people love.
This month we are taking a look at a Traditional flare in the home.
- Traditional decorating is calm, orderly, and predictable. There is nothing wild or chaotic in a traditional room. Furnishings are classic and might feel outdated. Nothing is a surprise. Pieces match and are consistent. Traditional style interiors are comforting and classic.
- Traditional style emphasizes proportion, symmetry and restraint. A traditional style home is refined and graceful with a regard to elegant, classical forms.
- Traditional fabrics can encompass a wide range of styles, from large-scale chintz to muted stripes. Toile de Jouy is typical of the look, especially in blue and cream. It can be used for upholstery, table linens and curtains and can be found today in an array of colours.
- When you think traditional, jewel tones are common - ruby, emerald, burgundy, amethyst, gold, sapphire and a neutral beige colour scheme is often found in the "traditional" home.
- Framed art is a fundamental of the traditional style, with prints hung symmetrically or balanced with paired accessories.
- Relaxing traditional furnishings include low, upholstered armchairs, sometimes with wings, sofas with scrolled ends and chaise lounges.
- Woods are typically highly polished such as mahogany, pecan, cherry, walnut & oak, to name a few.
