Councilmember Rose Herrera Offers $1,000 Reward for Arrest of Assailants Involved in the Thanksgiving Hate Crime

Remember the week of November 21, 2011? Were you getting ready for Thanksgiving Day and perhaps at the Lucky's shopping center on White and Aborn Roads?

On November 21, 2011, just before Thanksgiving, a member of our Evergreen community was attacked. 32-year-old industrial designer, Atul Lall, was leaving the parking lot outside the Lucky store at 3270 S. White Road, near Aborn Road, around 9:00 p.m. when he was viciously assaulted, inside his car, by a group of men who broke his jaw and called him a "terrorist."

The suspects remain at-large and we are asking for the public's help in identifying the assailants. Detectives describe one of the suspects as a 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9 male, with a medium build and about 200 pounds. The sketch shows him wearing glasses, with some facial hair under his chin and short dark hair. The suspects, possibly three or four men, all wore dark, hooded sweatshirts during the attack. There have not been any arrests in connection with this case.
