article1Life coach offers H.E.L.P. for dealing with grief during the holidays

Sharon Good GriefSharon Roth-Lichtenfeld has had her coping skills tested by multiple tragedies and death of loved ones.  She says those life events inspired her to become a Certified Professional Life Coach and establish GoodGrief Life Coaching based in southern New Jersey.

"Like many life coaches, I pull from my own experience," says Roth-Lichtenfeld. "Over the years I have found that while each person's grieving experience is unique; the circumstances are similar. Building on that common thread helps me connect with people who are hurting."

For clients seeking to cope with grief, Roth-Lichtenfeld developed a process called Honor, Express, Learn and Practice or H · E · L · P.  This easy to remember acronym provides tools for moving through grief and can be extremely useful during that difficult year of "firsts" following the death of a loved one.

 · Honor how the pain of loss is surfacing and communicate those feelings
· Express sorrow through journaling, painting or listening to music to release it and help it become real.
· Learn by paying attention to how the wound of grief is healing and what works for you
· Practice actually doing those things that help you feel better.

"A person's first response to grief might be to ignore it, but that leaves the wound to the heart untended where it can remain sore for years," she says. "Sharing the process with a life coach, a support group or even a good friend provides an outlet to move on and let the healing process take place in a healthy way."

New this year, Roth-Lichtenfeld has established "The GoodGrief Club." Members of the club have access to a variety of services including E-courses, DVDs and Tele-classes. The GoodGrief Club members will also participate at in-person group meetings, hear guest speakers and discuss the benefits of meditation, art therapy, reiki, and hypnosis.

Sharon Roth-Lichtenfeld is available for in-person coaching sessions, phone consultations and group workshops. For more information, call 856-270-2308, email Sharon@GoodGriefCoaching.com or visit http://www.goodgriefcoaching.com.

Mindful Living NJ Magazine readers who contact GoodGrief Life Coaching before December 31, 2010 will be eligible for a 20% discount on a three-month coaching commitment or three months of free membership to the GoodGrief Club ($75 savings).

article2NJ-based Greater Organic Foods Hopes to Help Budget-Conscious Families Eat Healthy

No longer does the scarcity of organic products create an issue when grocery shopping. Visit any major NJ grocery chain these days and the options are there: Organic and non-organic. But the price differential is there, too.

Even the most "dedicated-to-healthy-eating" families may still choose to economize at the grocery store. Take for example, the average price of USDA Grade A ground beef (70% lean) which is about $2.44/lb. Organic ground beef can be double that price or more. But what do you do when you know that certified organic beef is free from antibiotics or synthetic growth hormones, raised without the use of conventional pesticides and, often, is pasture-fed?

Joseph Kochakian, owner of Ramsey,Greater Organic logo NJ-based Greater Organic Foods, hopes to make the decision easier for families. "Eating organically should not cost your whole paycheck," says Kochakian. "Think about the monthly trips to the grocery store. You usually buy the same food items week after week. So our food consultants help our customers identify their existing monthly food budget and buying habits to select their order. With our service, though, they're able to choose organic every time."

"We've taken the shopping out of the store and brought it directly into the home," he says. "Through bulk buying and in-home delivery of organic meats, poultry and groceries, customers gain the ability to save money while buying all organic products. "

More than 800 products are available from Greater Organic Foods, such as frozen vegetables, salmon, organic butter and dry goods. To schedule a no cost, no obligation presentation in your home, contact them at 1-888-399-0919 or visit their website. Mention Mindful Living NJ for a $100 discount off the first order.

Article3What's Your Wellness Goal for 2011? Here's What Some of Our Favorite Local Holistic Practitioners Are Taking On This New Year

Of course, you can choose to take on a new action plan for health and wellness any time of year, but a lot of us tend to look to the New Year as a time to start over. Is this true for you?

You're not alone. We reached out to a few of our favorite local holistic health practitioners to find out what the experts are taking on in 2011. Here's what they had to say:

From Dr. Michael Magwood, D.C.: "I've already begun with a headstart.  I'm working on a fitness plan to bulk up and gain 15 pounds by May 1 and then complete the half marathon in Long Branch, NJ."

From Rita Desnoyers-Garcia, coach and author of Becoming Awake: "My wellness goal for 2011 is really about 'letting go.'  I've been in that process for about a year now and want to keep it going and expand on it.  Letting go has helped me take action on my ability and willingness to exercise, eat healthily, and rest.  My mental and spiritual wellness has been enhanced tremendously."

From Randy Rabney, conscious chef: "My intention in 2011 is to stop putting myself last.  My business and parenting get the necessary time, attention and financial resources required to do things the way that I want them to be done but when it comes to me and my self care, it's whatever is left over.  I want to make time for me and the things that will make me feel better and consquently better in everything that I do like going to yoga more often and getting more body work."

From Debra Bernath, reflexologist and bodyworker: "My goal for 2011 is to go with nature, build my Qi and be peaceful."
