3rd Annual Highlands GreenFest To Show NJ Residents How To Enjoy Sustainable, Greener Life
Are you interested in living a greener, more sustainable lifestyle? Do you want more information about your local options? Then you must not miss Sustainable West Milford's 3rd Annual Highlands GreenFest on Sat., May 22, 2010 from 10 am to 5 pm at Bubbling Springs Park (1428 Macopin Rd.) in West Milford, NJ. This regional eco-festival aims to educate attendees on how to "Live, Protect & Enjoy a greener lifestyle" (the theme of this year's event), while connecting community members with resources that help them do so.
The Highlands GreenFest features sustainable living demonstrations, local healthy fare and a line-up of live local music throughout the day. Children may enjoy the Green Team Kids Zone with sustainable games, contests, face painting, pony rides and live reptile shows. Over 75 exhibitors offering goods and services including green building, clean energy, alternative fuel vehicles, organic foods and gardening, and sustainable living goods as well as outdoor recreation and environmental conservation groups are expected to be on hand with an anticipated 2,000 people in attendance.
One of the goals of the event this year, says Suzie Blodgett, Highlands GreenFest coordinator, is to "educate attendees about alternative fuel vehicles and what's on the horizon in transportation." To that end, the planning committee is seeking individuals and membership clubs who would like to participate by spreading the news about their unique vehicles. If you are interested in joining the alternative fuel vehicle display, please contact Blodgett, at suzie@greenelementsco.com. Volunteers are needed to help the day of the festival, as well as on some pre-festival work days. Volunteers who sign up to help for at least 4 hours will receive a tie-dyed GreenFest Volunteer T-shirt. Contact Triscia Hennessy at hifiwoman@yahoo.com.

Give the Gift of Wellness This Mother's Day...She Gets To Choose How to Spend It
A few weeks ago, I blogged at The Wellness Bitch about "Grandma, the Great Saboteur." I love my mom and my mother-in-law, but sometimes I wish they took my interest in health and wellness a little more seriously, and explored more holistic health and wellness options for themselves. (But they're getting there!)
A club membership with Wellness Possibilites is actually a subtle way of getting your mom (or wife or sister) to try out alternative health modalities she might not otherwise. It's pretty simple. Buy a club membership; present your club card to a participating holistic health practitioner in your area, and get a discount on your session or service.
Wellness Possibilities has massage therapists, chiropractors and acupuncturists on their list, but they also have personal chefs, errand runners, and life coaches. For Mother's Day, they're offering Mindful Living NJ community members a special offer. Purchase a Wellness Possibilities Club Membership ($50) and receive a $25 gift card for free. To take advantage of the offer, visit www.wellnesspossibilities.com, and enter MINDFUL as a promo code when purchasing your club membership. Let me know what your mom thinks. |
