Local Green Cleaning Services Offers Less Toxic, More Health-Conscious Solutions for Home Or Office

These days, switching to less toxic cleaning products is pretty simple. But changing the mindset of your traditional professional cleaning service may not be. One company, NJ-based Clean Green Co. offers a simple solution-- switch to an eco-friendly, health-conscious service!

Green CleanerClean Green Co. is a locally-owned business started by Jennifer Mortarulo who wanted a safer living environment for her family, including her young child and beloved dog. The company offers professional cleaning service to both residential and commercial clients in NJ with a focus on improving indoor air quality and offering environmentally-friendly cleaning solutions.

Clean Green Co. uses products that are "not tested on animals, won't harm our precious water supply, won't harm our aquatic life once they go down the drain, and won't harm our rapidly diminishing outdoor air quality," says Mortarulo.  Brands include Ecover, Bon Ami, and Caldrea.

"I really want to have a direct, positive impact on people's lives," says Mortarulo. "Most important, I want to provide clients with the peace of mind that their children or employees will not be harmed due to toxic cleaners." Mortarulo's team is trained to look for dirt and not work a checklist, she says, which makes each home cleaning individualized and unique. As an added touch, she offers a variety of healing essential oil fragrances to  infuse while they are working in the home. You choose the fragrance! For more info, visit www.cleangreenco.com

Do You Know Someone With Diabetes?  Free Local Workshop Offers Natural Solutions to Try

Diabetes is one of the leading causes of death among Americans today. Most of the estimated 23.6 million people in the United States who have diabetes--a serious, lifelong condition--strive to control their symptoms with prescription medication, such as insulin.

However, under the care of a properly trained health professional such as a naturopathic doctor, diabetics may find relief through alternative means such as diet adjustments, nutritional supplements, herbal remedies, and lifestyle changes.

"Many people aren't even aware that there are alternatives to prescription medication for diabetes," says naturopathic doctor Dr. Marda Sussman. "But research shows that Type 2 diabetes may be managed and even reversed using alternative approaches, such as naturopathic medicine."

"Diabetes causes blood sugar levels to be higher than normal," says reflexologist Vera Krijn. "Poor circulation, high blood pressure, peripheral neuropathy and infection on the lower extremities are a few of the most common consequences. Reflexology may alleviate these symptoms."

On Mon., Nov. 30, at 7:30 pm Sussman and Krijn will hold a FREE educational workshop at The Rocking Chair, a women's wellness center in Englewood, in an effort to educate the community on the benefits of controlling diabetes using complementary and alternative therapies.

Gluten-Free Is Not For Everyone: What You Should Know About Food Intolerance

Have you switched to a gluten-free diet and didn't get well? It's possible you aren't sensitive to gluten at all, but to a different food altogether, says Deborah Manners of Food Intol.

According to Manners, there are four very common food intolerances: gluten, dairy, fructose and yeast. "And all have similar symptoms," she says. 15 years ago, Manners identified the cause behind her own chronic illness - multiple food intolerance. She created FoodIntol to help others navigate food sensitivity and associated symptoms, such as digestive issues, sinus pain, chronic headaches, and more.

Manners maintains that food journaling is the most accurate way to uncover hidden food sensitivity. Foodintol offers a trademarked food tracking and support system to help people navigate what might otherwise be a challenging path.

Some tips from Manners about food intolerance:
1. Reactions may not be immediate, but days later. "A bad headache on Tuesday afternoon may be caused by a food you ate over the weekend."
2. You might be sensitive to more than one food. Some gluten intolerant people are also sensitive to dairy, fructose or yeast.
3. It's difficult to identify intolerance from symptoms alone. You really need a journal, she says.
