Holistic Nutritionist Assists Clients with Wide Range of Disorders, from IBS to Infertility

From detox diets to celebrity cleanses, we're hearing more and more about the relation between food and healing. Felecia Bell SchaferHolistic practitioners are well aware of the benefits of examining a person's diet when trying to understand the root causes of illness.

Holistic nutritionist Felecia Bell-Schafer believes nutritional deficiencies play a wide role in a number of disorders and chronic illnesses, from irritable bowel syndrome to infertility.  "If those deficiencies are allowed to continue over a long period of time," says Bell-Schafer, "they will certainly affect an organ's ability to function properly."

"We've all heard that we are what we eat," she says. "But, we truly are the terrain we possess, what that terrain absorbs and what we assimilate.  Also, the more effectively and efficiently we are able to eliminate certain metabolic waste by-products (which often accumulate in tissues, thus potentially inhibiting organ and glandular function) the better we feel and are able to perform the tasks of life."

In her office in Bayonne, Bell-Schafer sees clients with a ride range of health issues, ranging from subtle to severe. She uses Nutrition Response Testing, a type of muscle testing, to identify the underlying reasons why the body is creating a symptom and what dietary changes, as well as what whole food supplements it would take to resolve the problem. In addition to deficiencies, Nutrition Response Testing can identify food sensitivites.

"Nutrition Response Testing is a non-invasive system of analyzing the body to determine the underlying causes of non-optimum health," says Bell-Schafer.  "We don't just address issues, we identify what the body needs to heal itself and monitor response over a period of time."

FoodFilmDocumentary Film Showing in Montclair Offers Perspective on Ill Effects of GMO Food

According to filmmaker, Deborah Koons Garcia, there is a revolution happening in the farm fields and on the dinner tables of America -- a revolution that is transforming the very nature of the food we eat.

In her film, "The Future of Food," Koons Garcia offers an in-depth investigation into the disturbing truth behind the unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foods that have quietly filled U.S. grocery store shelves for the past decade.Future of Food

Shot on location in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, The Future of Food examines the complex web of market and political forces that are changing what we eat as huge multinational corporations seek to control the world's food system. The film also explores alternatives to large-scale industrial agriculture, placing organic and sustainable agriculture as real solutions to the farm crisis today.

Presented locally by Community Green, the film will be shown on Wed., June 3, at 7 pm at the Montclair Public Library Main Branch in Montclair. For more information, contact Marnie Vyff at marnie@ecoLOGIC-design.com
