Barn Raising Raffle Winners Announced
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Barn Raising Raffle! From posting to your Facebook page to spreading the word to family and friends, our collective efforts helped to raise these vital funds for Camp Glen Brook.

The Waldorf School of Garden City officially held its raffle drawing to announce the winners of the Barn Raising Raffle on Sunday, May 1st. The raffle was organized in response to last February's fire that destroyed the barn at Camp Glen Brook, the School's extension campus in New Hampshire. Said Twain Braden, Director of Camp Glen Brook, "The barn was a central part of the Glen Brook experience and I am delighted the Waldorf School and Camp Glen Brook communities came together in this wonderful way to help rebuild it!"

Marjorie P. Jean-Paul, the School's Director of Development, said "Over 460 raffle tickets were sold in less than 30 days drawing on the support of the immediate current parents, alumni, alumni parents, campers and many friends of the School and Glen Brook. At $100 a ticket, we raised over $36,000 in net proceeds to help in the rebuilding of the barn for Camp Glen Brook!" The winners of the Glen Brook Barn Raffle were:
  • $10,000 Grand Prize: Elizabeth Hill, parent of 12th grader Lisa Ciaccio. She has generously decided to donate her winnings back to Waldorf and Glen Brook!
  • New Hampshire Getaway to Camp Glen Brook: Marilyn Cranin, a Waldorf Trustee, Alumni Parent and Grandparent
  • Taste of Long Island Weekend: Waldorf Alumna Jennifer Dorman '95
  • New York City Weekend Getaway: Waldorf Alumna Rachel Von Roeschlaub '87
  • $1000 or one year of FREE lunch at the Waldorf School Cafeteria: Richard Pisano Sr., Alumni Parent and Grandparent

Congratulations to all of our winners and thank-you to all who participated!

With the raffle now over, attention will now focus to the actual Barn Raising Weekend which will take place the weekend of May 20th to 22nd.  Mr. Braden said, "We seek skilled volunteers to assist in the project. The new barn, designed by Waldorf School of Garden City current parents and alumnus David Resnick '79 and his wife Iwonka Piotrowska, will be built entirely by hand and assembled over the course of the weekend."
