Risk E-Notes

Dear CAP member,

Aortic aneurysm and dissection diagnoses are difficult to make and, all too often, result in the death of the patient. Making it more difficult, these patients present with a variety of symptoms to a variety of settings including primary care offices, urgent care clinics, emergency departments, and surgical centers.

For these reasons, the attached study The Aortic Disease Claims Study: Special Focus on Aortic Aneurysm and Aortic Dissection is provided to you by the Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. (CAP). (Download the PDF here.) Our goal is to raise member physicians' level of suspicion in these patients which can result in improved outcomes.

This study was done in cooperation with the American College of Cardiology (ACC). Claims data was provided by the Physician Insurers Association of America (PIAA) Data Sharing Project of which CAP is a participant.
