MAKING OUR SPIRITUAL NEEDS A PRIORITY

Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate there is a pool, called in Hebrew Beth-zatha, which has five porticoes.  In these lay many invalids - blind, lame, and paralyzed.  One man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years.  John 5:3-5

If only I was as diligent to relieve my spiritual needs as I am my physical and emotional needs.  Sicknesses, aches of the heart, these can afflict me and cause a pain that begs for immediate relief.  I will go to great lengths to find the right doctor, even drive great distances, to see that my physical needs are met.
The pool of Bethesda attracted those who were sick.  Day after day, they lay in the shadows of the porticoes, waiting for evidence that an angel had come to stir up the waters.  The pool, graced from time to time by the visitation of an angel, was their only hope.  Because of that, tenacity was necessary if they were to be healed.  What were the chances that someone ill could go just one day to the pool and time it perfectly for his healing?  Slim.
Spiritual needs are met for those who seek.  God says that He will be found by those who search for them with their whole heart.  This presents a picture of a seeker who is relentless, focused, and single-minded.  Nothing will thwart his journey to Jesus.  He does not make a casual, yearly trip to the altar with a prayer that begins with, "You know, it would be nice if you would do this!"  Their prayers are urgent and are spoken in desperate tones.
How tenacious am I in prayer?  It is said that man is into microwave praying, wanting instant results.  God is into marinating, not microwaving.

There are needs for which I continue to seek Your deliverance.  I will not give up - for only You are the answer, Jesus.  Amen

Daughters of Promise teaches women how to live as daughters, not orphans.

An orphan spirit teaches us to peek in another's window, pining for what we want but never got, then setting out to get our needs met at another banquet table.  The spirit of sonship is ours and we can live in plenty, not deprivation.
