TREE OF KNOWLEDGE
Summer Reading Program

Vermints
Our young customers are invited to sign up for our Tree of Knowledge Summer Reading Program!

Over the summer, we invite and encourage participants to visit Phoenix. While visiting, they'll be given a "leaf" on which they'll document their latest read. Leaves will be attached to our in-store Tree of Knowledge.

Readers help the Tree grow all summer long by reading books and gaining new knowledge.  At the end of the summer, we'll have a celebration!

Our reading program is designed to be laid back, fun, and free of competition. It will run through the end of August.  Suggested age range is (entering) K-8.

To celebrate this program, we're discounting a hand-picked selection of books at 20% off!

HOWARD NORMANHoward Norman
On Saturday, July 10th, Howard Norman will discuss his new novel, What is Left the Daughter.

"Norman's piquant insights into life's wildness, human eccentricity, and love's maddening
persistence are matched by rhapsodic and profound descriptions of everything from perfectly baked scones to pelting rain and the devouring sea, while anguish is tempered with humor, thanks to rapid-fire banter and marvelously spiky characters." - Booklist

Howard Norman is a three-time winner of National Endowment for the Arts fellowships. The Northern Lights and The Bird Artist were nominated for the National Book Award. His books have been translated into twelve languages. He lives in Washington, D.C., and Vermont with his family.

BOOK CLUB PICK OF THE MONTH
Look Again, by Lisa Scottoline

Look AgainWhen reporter Ellen Gleeson gets a "Have You Seen This Child?" flyer in the mail, she almost throws it away. But something about it makes her look again, and her heart stops:  the child in the photo is identical to her adopted son, Will. Her every instinct tells her to deny the similarity between the boys, because she knows her adoption was lawful. But she's a journalist and won't be able to stop thinking about the photo until she figures out the truth. And she can't shake the question: if Will rightfully belongs to someone else, should she keep him or give him up? She investigates, uncovering clues no one was meant to discover, and when she digs too deep, she risks losing her own life--and that of the son she loves.
