THIS MONDAY!

You are invited to a Community Forum with United States Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack in Hamlet, North Carolina, on August 17, 2009. Secretary Vilsack will be joined by Education Secretary Arne Duncan as he leads the Obama Administration's Rural Tour - which is an opportunity to discuss the efforts by the Administration to rebuild and revitalize rural America, including rural education and workforce development.

At each stop on the Rural Tour, Secretary Vilsack has been listening to local residents about how USDA can assist them, and discussing solutions to the challenges facing their communities.

So please bring your thoughts, ideas and questions. Your input and participation would be greatly appreciated.

exclamation markSludge Survey for 2009 - Beware of Misinformation!

We received a notification this week from the Division of Water Quality that a company has sent a letter out to swine farms telling them that they have to do their 2009 sludge survey by the end of the current permit which is September 30.

Please note, that this is not correct. The survey is an annual requirement, so they have until the end of the year, just like any other year. The permit expiration or the new permit becoming effective October 1 has nothing to do with the annual sludge survey.

If you have any additional questions regarding this issue, it is suggested that you contact your DWQ regional office.
