PCIA Urges Tower Lighting, Marking Rules Changes
In April 2010, the FCC proposed changes to Part 17 of its lighting and marking rules for towers in order to facilitate enforcement and remove obsolete rules, while preventing towers from becoming a danger to aviation. In reply comments on the FCC's plan, PCIA, the Wireless Infrastructure Association, said reforming Part 17 would reduce barriers to infrastructure deployment, which would assist the FCC in its national broadband plan. Ground Integrity Monitor
The ground integrity monitor from AEMC Instruments measures and monitors ground resistance, leakage current to ground, temperature and relative humidity and copper theft. Measurements are logged at user-specified time intervals and can be retrieved on-site through a USB or RS-232 port, or obtained remotely through an optional built-in modem, Web browser or RS485 port. Site Monitoring
Davicom now supports standard digital video recorder (DVR) surveillance systems to extend the capabilities of its MAC site monitoring solutions. The DVR simply connects to the site's IP interface (router/switch) in parallel with the MAC. DVRs with video motion detection capability are then connected to one of the MAC's status inputs. If motion is detected, the MAC can send alarms by one of many means such as email, SMS, telephone, cell phone or FAX. The DVR can be programmed to allow the user to connect to the unit through the web and browse through the video recordings to identify who or what set off the motion alarm. www.davicom.com
