KRKO TowersEco-Terrorists Strike AM Towers; Owner Warns of Copycat Threat
Just days before the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, a different kind of terrorism struck the broadcasting industry bringing down two AM towers in Washington state. Forest Officials Again Deny Cell Tower on Galena Summit

The Sawtooth National Forest in Idaho on Sept. 2 once again denied Idaho Tower's application to construct a cell tower in the Sawtooth National Recreational Area. As part of the decision, the agency adopted a stricter visual quality rule for the area on Galena Summit, which allowed the denial of the 90-foot cell tower proposal. Above is a simulation of the proposed tower, concealed as a pine, sited along the distant tree line of Galena Summit. Though Expensive, Number of Towers Grows in Adirondacks
There was some good news and some bad news at a Sept. 9 meeting between the Adirondack Park Agency and representatives of several cell phone companies. The good news is the literal dead zone along the Adirondack Northway Corridor (I-87) has become a healthy breeding ground for new cell towers. The bad news is they cost twice as much as towers in areas outside the park, according to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise. MORE

Cell Tower Grudge Match Decides Site
Cell siting is seldom like a game pitting developer versus developer.  But cell tower developer Lester Boihem, owner of Two-Way Communications,  went head to head with Greg Boyd of Intellicom Wireless Management in Spanish Fort, Ala., according to Baldwin County Now. MORE
