Crown Castle Defies Downturn with Strong First Quarter
Citing strong consumer demand and successful organic growth, Crown Castle International announced strong growth this week in site rental revenue, site rental gross margin and adjusted EBITDA. MORE
 
Wireless Growth Keeps American Tower Humming
American Tower reported this week that its total revenues increased 6.9 percent to $408.7 million in the first quarter. Rental and management segment revenues also grew 5.9 percent to $395.9 million. And a total of 194 new tower builds were completed in the first quarter. MORE

FCC Upholds $10k Fine for RFR Violation
The FCC has denied the application filed by CBS Radio, formerly Infinity Broadcasting, seeking a review of the $10,000 fine against WQYK-FM, St. Petersburg, Fla., for failure to comply with radio frequency radiation (RFR) maximum permissible exposure (MPE) limits. MORE

DAS Industry Player Scores Financing for Expansion
NewPath Networks has achieved $47 million in investment funding in a private placement offering, of which $30 million closed on April 20. The financing was led by Charterhouse Group, a private equity investment firm. Other participants included Meritage Funds and existing investor Sweetwater Capital. MORE
 
Federal Stimulus Funds Requested to Build Cell Tower
Opinions on the federal stimulus package vary, but Clinton, Mass., administrators have completed their wish list, requesting $175,000 in federal stimulus money to build an 80-foot public safety communications antenna and a 16-by-16-foot controls building, according to the Clinton Times & Courier.
 
Copper Continues to Disappear in Pennsylvania
AT&T Mobile officials told police last week that three copper ground bus bars were stolen from a cell tower site in the township. Police said the theft appears to be related to at least seven other thefts in northeastern Pennsylvania, according to the Wilkes Barre Times Leader.
