Tower in South Central Kansas Gets Iced
The problem with Spring is Mother Nature keeps changing her mind. A 1,250 foot tall broadcast tower south of Wichita, Kan., collapsed some time in the morning last Saturday after Winter made a brief comeback, according to several local news stations. The tower carried the antennas used by Spanish KYQQ-FM is owned by Journal Broadcast Group (JBG). MORE
 
Fall Claims First Tower Climber of the New Year
A tower climber in South Florida has become the first fatality of 2009. Although he was wearing a safety harness, a man fell to his death while working on a cell tower in South Florida, according to the Palm Beach Post. MORE

Prior to the opening of the Tower Technology Summit (collocated with CTIA Wireless 2009) on April 1 in Las Vegas, Ric Prentiss, head of telecommunications services and equity research at Raymond James & Associates, hosted his annual Executive Breakfast Roundtable. Attended by 200 investors with an interest in the wireless infrastructure industry, the breakfast featured presentations by Jake MacLeod, principal vice president chief technology officer for engineering and technology at Bechtel Federal Telecoms, and David M. Cutrer, Ph.D., chief technology officer of NextG Networks.

Nebraska-Iowa Wireless Association to Hold Inaugural Meeting
The newly-formed Nebraska-Iowa Wireless Association (NEIA) will hold its launch meeting on April 22-23 at Harrah's in Council Bluffs, Ia. A cocktail party will be held on the 22nd at Harrah's from 5-7 p.m. and a luncheon will be held on the 23rd at 11 a.m. MORE
TWA Meeting Features Panel Discussion on Safety
The Tennessee Wireless Association held its 1st Quarter Meeting in mid-March in Nashville, Tenn.
