Global Tower Partners Acquires More AT&T Tower Assets
Global Tower Partners has made another acquisition of towers from AT&T Mobility, its second in the last five months.  The most recent purchase was 235 communications towers located in 24 states. AT&T sold 549 communications towers to GTP last September, prompting some to speculate that the telecom giant was getting out of the tower business.

Possible Digital TV Transition Delay Could Disrupt Scheduled Tower Projects
Tower crews that specialize in projects involving the especially tall telecommunications towers commonly used by TV broadcast stations are dealing with a backlog of service orders related to the installation of digital TV transmitting antennas and the removal of analog transmitting antennas. Delays in the final spectrum allocation caused equipment orders at some antenna manufacturers to be delayed until the spring quarter of 2008.  MORE

Power Amplifiers
Teseq has expanded its power amplifier line to include five broadband models operating from 0.8 GHz to 3.1 GHz and 2 GHz to 6 GHz with power levels ranging from 30 watts to 450 watt. Three Class A models are based on gallium arsenide (GaAs) integrated circuit (IC) technology, offering better compression characteristics and increased efficiencies than previous silicon-based low power amplifiers. The Two additional models based on gallium nitride (GaN) IC technology deliver consistent power into the poor and variable match typically found in the 2 to 6 GHz range, resulting in more accurate, repeatable measurements. www.teseq.com
Antenna Array Mount
The PowerMount from FWT makes it possible to install a sectored antenna array on an existing electrical transmission tower. The tubular PowerMount structure supports the compression load while providing a means to safely secure the coax that prevents vandalism, provides shielding, and reduces wind load on the structure caused by the coax, especially when ice is considered. The PowerMount can be installed in less than two days and can either be positioned at the top or within the body of the structure. With the current deregulation of the electrical utility industry, many utilities are interested in the opportunity to leverage their networks to earn more revenue. www.fwtinc.com
