Radio System Means 50 New Sites
For California County’s Public Safety Agencies

In an effort to increase coverage, functionality and interoperability, Riverside County, CA, is replacing the radio system used by its fire and law enforcement agencies. To accomplish this, the County plans to more than triple the number of tower sites to the existing system for a total of 70. The Southern California county includes the cities of Palm Springs, La Quinta and Riverside, as well as a national park and forest service land. MORE

CFO Singer Exits American Tower
American Tower Corporation Chief Financial Officer Brad Singer is leaving to become CFO of Discovery Communications. Singer began his tenure with American Tower in 2000. Jean Bua, executive vice president, finance and corporate controller, will serve as interim CFO as the company searches for a replacement. MORE

Tower Monitoring
Model DM-32 from Hark Systems is a monitoring product for sensing various events and alarms at tower sites. The unit can operate in standalone mode or in concert with a network operations center (NOC) With 32 inputs and 8 contact closure outputs, the DM32 will monitor and activate equipment at the site either automatically or remotely through the menu interface provided. A backup battery and smart charging circuit will keep the DM32 running in the event of a power failure. Inputs have a delay timer that is configurable to avoid false alarms. Model FTB 360i from the Flash Technology division of SPX is an advanced LED L-864-type aviation obstruction lighting system. The unit features a tightly focused light beam, status indicators to convey real time operating information, and an efficient, compact design for easy installation and longer life.
