Tower Industry Suffers Two More Fatalities in May
In two separate instances, the number of technicians falling from towers in 2008 grew to seven as two workers fell to their deaths in May.  The most recent death was a man who fell on May 22 while working on the Channel 7 WSVN tower in North Miami, FL, according to the Miami Herald.  On May 16, a 25-year-old Alabama man, Jonathon Guilford, became the nation's sixth victim of fatal injuries from a fall from a telecommunications tower when he fell an estimated 100 to 130 feet from a tower in Haubstadt, IN.

Single-LED Obstruction Light
The L-810LED1 single LED (single stage reflector system) obstruction light from FarLight features 6 W power consumption, 50,000 hours lifetime and resistance to shock, vibration and weather. The FAA certified light lasts up to 20 times longer, and uses 95 percent less power, than an incandescent light. Incandescent Hazard Lighting
Task-Master code beacon lamps from H&H Industries provide tower owners with dependable hazard lighting with a life rating as long as 8,000 hours. The lamps feature a weather-resistant hard-glass envelope, a rugged filament design and reinforced filament mount. Wire braces hold in place a built-in mica reflector designed to redirect light.
