Miss. Governor Scraps Copper Theft Legislation More than 20 states have passed legislation to combat the theft of copper. Although Mississippi is among them, its governor vetoed the legislation that was passed. Asserting that it would place an undue regulatory burden on the scrap recycling industry, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour vetoed similar legislation, which sought to require scrap metal dealers to maintain a record of purchases and provide it to authorities on request. MORE |
