Carrier Plans Rural Cell Tower Growth, Thanks to Universal Service Fund
U.S. Cellular expects to build 121 new cell sites in Illinois over the next five years and to get several in service this year, according the Chicago Tribune. The carrier's commitment comes in the wake of the Illinois Commerce Commission certification that allows it access to the FCC's universal service fund for rural cellular service.
