American Tower Withdraws Suit Against Zeitlin
AGL Bulletin reported in its January 7 issue that American Tower had sued Jide Zeitlin, an executive who heads a rival tower operator, for defamation and computer fraud. On February 8, American Tower said it had voluntarily withdrawn its Dec. 27, 2007 lawsuit against Zeitlin, the Keffi Group and IMIL. "The company has taken this action following a meeting between the parties," a statement from American Tower reads. "The result was reached amicably." MORE

`Get to Zero,' Foulke Says of Tower-related Injuries, Fatalities
Speaking at the NATE conference in Orlando, Fla., on Feb. 12, 2008, Edwin G. Foulke Jr.,  head of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), announced a national partnership between OSHA and NATE to promote safety to eliminate job-related fatalities.

"Through the partnership, we sent letters to major owners, carriers and general contractors asking them that they adopt
 100 percent fall protection for all worksites. That is what it will take to get to zero. That has to be your goal,"

Crown Castle Results Exceed Outlook
On February 6, Crown Castle International reported financial results for the quarter and year ended Dec. 31, 2007. "We had an excellent fourth quarter and full year 2007, exceeding our previously provided outlook for site rental gross margin, adjusted EBITDA and recurring cash flow," said John P. Kelly, president and CEO, in a prepared statement. MORE

 'Signature Wall' Shows Safety Commitment
Tower hands, foremen, supervisors, managers, CEOs and company owners signed a commitment to safety called the "signature wall" at the National Association of Tower Erectors (NATE) conference in Orlando, Fla., conducted Feb. 11-14, 2008. Gallagher Ends Stint at FiberTower
Less than three years after joining the company, Michael Gallagher has resigned as president, CEO and director of FiberTower Corporation, a wireless backhaul services provider. Thomas Scott, Chief Financial Officer, and Ravi Potharlanka, Senior Vice President Operations, will serve as co-Presidents for the interim period. MORE

COWs Don't Come Home: Northway Remains Cellular Free
Hold the phone. Temporary cell coverage will not make the trip up I-87 to the Northway Corridor in New York, according to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise.

Despite best efforts of State Sen. Betty Little and Independent Towers LLC, plans to deploy temporary sites known as "cells on wheels" or COWs by mid-January ran into a serious snag when service provider Sprint backed out. MORE

Report Predicts Flattening Infrastructure Market
The IMS Researchs report, "The Worldwide Market for Cellular Infrastructure - 7th Edition", predicts the cellular infrastructure market in the period 2008-2009 is set to flatten and, in some regions, to strongly decline.  MORE
