Faithwalking e-Newsletter Missional Marriage coming in July
|
| by Jim Herrington
Missional Marriage July 10-12, 2009 Houston Northwest Forest Conference Center
At the inaugural Faithwalking retreat, the participants stated clearly that the first and most important place of impact for Faithwalking was in the marriage and family. Since that conversation, we have been planning for Mission Marriage. Today we are pleased to announce the pilot of Missional Marriage. Led by Trisha and Craig Taylor, this weekend at Houston Northwest Forest Conference Center will include teaching time and couple time as well as opportunities for reflection, small group sharing, spiritual formation and recreation.
Limited to 10 couples, the retreat will begin at 9 am on Friday morning and conclude at noon on Sunday. The cost is $500 per couple and some scholarships are available. To register, send your non-refundable deposit of $100 to Mission Houston.

My Faithwalking Experience ...
|
| by Kent Major
| Kent Major is the President of Alpheus Communications, a telecom and
data center company with about 100 employees. He and his wife,
Caroline, are a part of Grace Family Baptist Church and together they
attended the most recent Faithwalking retreat. Here is his testimony
about his experience.
The Faithwalking retreat was an amazing
experience. I've been blessed to attend numerous Christian conferences
and be exposed to much good, biblical teaching over the years, but
never have I been part of a group that was invited to look so deeply
into the condition of our own hearts and to consider -- in an intimate
setting -- what might be holding us back from becoming more radically
obedient disciples of Jesus.
It will be some time before I
can evaluate the long-term fruits of the retreat, but I have high
hopes. With the concepts, tools, and follow-up that Faithwalking
provides, I'm left with no excuse for not engaging in the "heart" work
that will result in a greater capacity to love and serve both God and
my fellow man. The facilitators are not just good at running retreats
but are top-notch folks who are committed to living out what they're
teaching; I was challenged by the radical decisions they've made in
their own personal lives.
